Corellas Strike Back?

| Accident halts (pest) Corella culls in Australia... CORELLA CULLS (Cacatua Sanguinea/Bare Eyed Cockatoos) have been halted in Warrnambool and Portland Australia, after a Glenelg Shire employee was seriously injured - during a trapping and gassing of the cockatoos operation. The incident, which happened in Portland, has forced the Department of Sustainability and Environment to recall and modify its cull equipment. DSE cockatoo project co-ordinator David Brennan said culls would be suspended for another fortnight. He said employees at Glenelg Shire and Warrnambool City would be retrained to use the modified equipment. DSE would continue to work with the shires on the culls. Mr Brennan said the serious injury had occurred when a rubber band used to propel the net had snapped and struck the worker......

It is not the first time such an incident has occurred -- a worker in Horsham received bruising when a rubber band snapped. A Warrnambool City Council spokeswoman said no further cockatoo culls were planned for the Warrnambool area during the next two weeks, but the project would continue once equipment had been adequately modified. hmmmmmm!!!!
